CACAO TRUFFLES RECIPE | CHRISTI WASSERMAN
Cacao: The following highlights a few of the many healing benefits of Cacao.
Named ‘Food of the Gods’ in ancient civilisations and known as a superfood today and for good reason, cacao offers more benefits than you can imagine! To name a few;
Cacao is a natural mood elevator – triggering the bliss chemicals in your brain known as serotonin dopamine and anadamine. It has been studied and is becoming more known that including cacao in your diet combats anxiety and depression as well.
After enjoying some good quality cacao you can expect to feel euphoric, relaxed and… maybe even a little in love! Cacao contains tryptophan, one of the building blocks of serotonin (also a brain chemical that makes you feel all the love) and phenylethylamine (PEA), released in the brain when you are falling in love.
Raw cacao is rich in a myriad of nutrients;
Such as magnesium, a key component of a happy and healthy heart.
Iron, which is one of the most neglected nutrients in modern day culture.
Other minerals such as calcium, zinc, copper, potassium, manganese and cromium to name a few.
If antioxidants are what you’re after, did you know that cacao contains the highest amount of flavonoids (class of antioxidant) by weight compared to any other food! Good to know and include in your diet if you are looking to reduce high blood pressure and inflammation.
Raw chocolate improves cardiovascular health, builds strong bones, is a natural
aphrodisiac, elevates your mood and energy, and increases longevity.
May this little nugget of information inspire you to source good quality cacao and indulge in the magnitude of benefits this superbean holds whilst enjoying your chocolatey deliciousness!
Cinnamon: Is a super spice with many benefits, it enhances circulation, stabilises blood sugar levels, when digested has antiseptic and detoxifying properties for the body and is naturally very sweet so can be added to all your sweet creations to add that extra sweet punch without overloading your food with sugars.
