Creamy and delicious, this fresh homemade almond mylk will show you just how easy it is to make your own almond mylk at a fraction of the price.
Almonds are high in Calcium and Vitamin E making them beneficial to your health. By soaking the nuts it allows the mylk to be creamier, alters the flavour and reduces the leftover pulp. By soaking you are also activating the enzymes in the nuts which allow the body to digest the nutrients in them – hence the term ‘activated nuts’.
TOTAL COOKING TIME: 5 mins
MAKES 1 litre
½ cup of almonds
4 cups of water
pinch of salt
2 pitted dates
Soak the almonds overnight in water (min 8 hours)
Rinse the almonds and place into a high-speed
Blend with other ingredients for 1-2 minutes until creamy
Pass through a nut mylk bag or fine cloth and squeeze all the liquid out
Pour the mylk into a glass bottle and refrigerate. Consume within 3 days and separation will occur – just shake and enjoy!
